Cambodia’s rice output in 2018 will rise to 9.19 million tonnes, up marginally from 9.10 million tonnes y-o-y.
In the first eight months of 2018, some 341,638 million tonnes was exported, down 8% y-o-y following decreased orders from China, Poland and the UK. Fragrant rice makes up the largest share of exports. As of 2017, cross border shipments to Thailand and Vietnam were estimated at 700,000 tonnes.
In July, China imposed new import tariff rates on unhusked rice, whole rice, broken rice, fine rice flour, coarse flour and rice grain imports from ASEAN at 50%, 50%, 5%, 40%, and 5%, respectively.
