Vietnam has begun clinical trials of a vaccine against African swine fever with some initial success, according to Nguyễn Xuân Cường, minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The trials are to be accelerated and scaled up before the vaccine is put into commercial production.

He said Vietnam’s National University of Agriculture has developed a vaccine against the African swine fever virus which offers immunity against the disease in the laboratory.
