Cargill and Royal DSM have created a new joint venture called Avansya to produce zero-calorie sweeteners such as steviol glycosides Reb M and Reb D through fermentation instead of the stevia leaf.
The new venture will combine both companies’ technologies for producing steviol glycoside products that will be sold under the brand name EverSweet™.
The joint venture will be a 50-50 partnership between the two companies. The establishment of the joint venture is subject to regulatory approvals by Q1 of 2019.
